Residents from a care home in Kingston Vale had a wonderful time visiting the Royal Ascot after a surprise trip organised by the care home.
Residents from Care UK’s Sherwood Grange, on Robin Hood Lane, had their wish fulfilled when team members at the home surprised them with a trip to the races – at this year’s Royal Ascot.
Dressed to impress, the residents watched many races, keeping an eye out for their favourites to win, and enjoyed a few glasses of prosecco as they lapped up the atmosphere. Keen royalists, the residents were also on the lookout for a sighting of the Royals themselves.
Commenting on the day, resident Jeanette Mill, 91, said: “We all had a wonderful day – which I will always remember!”
Malgo Wcislo, Home Manager at Sherwood Grange, said: “We all had a brilliant ‘day at the races’ – especially under the superb sunshine.
“Everyone got into the spirit of the day, wearing their best outfits and fanciest hats. The races brought smiles to everyone’s faces, and residents loved cheering on their favourite horses and admiring the outfits of those attending.
“We look forward to planning more days out like this one for other residents at Sherwood Grange over the coming summer months.”
Sherwood Grange has been designed to encourage residents to live active and fulfilling lives, while remaining as independent as possible in a safe environment. The state-of-the-art care home features a cinema, hair and beauty salon and café, and incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
