Knutsford care home celebrates finalist recognition in national Knight Frank awards

A local care home in Knutsford is celebrating after being recognised as one of the final top three care homes in the UK for its recently refurbished building and interiors.

Care UK’s Cranford Grange care home on Hall Lane, Mobberley was shortlisted in the Care Home Renovation Award category at the Knight Frank Awards 2026, which celebrates excellence in care services.

At this year’s awards, the home wowed the judges with its state-of-the-art facilities, including premium suites, green areas and leisure spaces, from its activities lounges to its lavish restaurants, bars and spa-style treatment areas.

Cranford Grange was commended for its recent refurbishment, with judges congratulating the team on their achievement and expressing how much they enjoyed visiting the home during the judging process.

General Manager, Dan Cole, said: “We’re honoured to be recognised as one of the nation’s top care homes. This award is a testament to our dedicated team members, who go above and beyond to look after our home and provide the highest standard of care to residents.”

The home officially re-launched in January 2025 after a £3.3 million renovation, with the addition of a new cinema, hair and beauty salon, as well as a bistro café area, with fresh bakes and hot drinks available to all visitors.

As part of the refurbishment, communal areas were also redecorated. All floors now feature a new restaurant, lounge area, private dining room and a “relaxation zone” where specialist treatment, such as Namaste care and reiki, can take place.

The home’s internal layout was also reconfigured to enable residents living with dementia to remain as independent as possible, while large specialist rooms have now been opened to enhance residents’ wellbeing.

Commenting on the refurbishment, Dan said: “Residents were heavily involved throughout the refurbishment process, so our goal was to bring their vision to life. We couldn’t be happier about the result, and the feedback from relatives and the community on our refurbishment has been overwhelmingly positive.

“From our therapy spaces, which allow us to provide hairdressing and nail care services, to our vibrant communal areas, designed to encourage social interaction and companionship, every element of the home has been carefully considered to create a warm, village-like feel. We can’t wait to welcome more people into our home and host more events for the community.’’

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Cranford Grange provides residential, dementia, nursing and respite care, and incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies. The home has its own cinema, pub and hair and beauty salon, and has been configured into a series of neighbourhoods to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage interaction among the residents.
