Bristol care homes welcome community for festive fun with a nostalgic twist

Two care homes in Bristol are embracing the yuletide season by opening their doors for special reminiscence events.

Ladden View, on Fletcher Road in Yate and Trymview Hall, on Southmead Road are inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members at each of the homes.

Ladden View will be welcoming guests on Saturday 29 November from 11 am – 2 pm and Trymview Hall will be opening its doors on Friday 28 November from 2 pm – 5 pm.

The events are part of Care UK’s Step into Christmas initiative, which aims to rekindle festive customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community.

On the day, the homes will be hosting a 1950s-themed fair, which will be adorned with traditional decorations, including paper chains.

Ladden View will also have carol singing, while guests at Trymview Hall will have the opportunity to get involved in traditional crafts and Christmas card making.

Sarah Daly, Home Manager at Ladden View, said: “Christmas is such a special time of year, and this event allows us to honour memories from residents’ childhoods, bringing them to life once again.

“This is also a wonderful opportunity to unite the community, celebrate the season and pass on traditions that may otherwise be forgotten.

“We’d like to encourage local people to join us to celebrate the festive season and bring the memories of Christmas past to Bristol.”
