Care UK celebrates shortlisting in prestigious national awards

Awards season has well and truly kicked off in the care sector, and Care UK has  been shortlisted for two major awards this week.

Nominated for the Residential Elderly Care Provider of the Year (Large Group category) Award at the Health Investor Awards, Care UK is hoping for a win that will demonstrate their commitment to attracting, developing, and retaining the highest calibre talent to provide the best care possible for residents across Care UK homes.

Care UK is dedicated to leading the way as a growing care provider, supporting and developing teams across the organisation, driven by its  core values of  passionate, caring and teamwork. This shortlisting is recognition of the hard work and commitment of colleagues in all Care UK  homes, as well as  those who work in the Colchester-based Support Centre.

Additionally, Hotel Services Manager Daniel Phillpott has been recognised at the Public Sector Catering Awards, shortlisted for the Training and Apprenticeship Award.

Since joining Care UK nine years ago, Daniel Phillpott has shown a real passion for developing the skills and abilities of others. He has been closely involved with Care UK’s Chef Academy apprenticeship scheme since its inception in 2020, and his outstanding work has been pivotal to its success.

One apprentice who he recalls started at Care UK as a host was promoted to a kitchen assistant and joined the Chef Academy, making their way through levels 2, 3 and 4. Now, she is a head chef at Care UK – and she was even a finalist for a National Association of Care Catering award and a finalist in Care UK’s in-house Chef of the Year competition.

The Training and Apprenticeship shortlisting is a testament to his ability to go above and beyond to develop the skills and abilities of others, and his work at Care UK has demonstrated his outstanding commitment to training.
