High Wycombe care home raises £800 for village hall

A care home in High Wycombe has donated more than £800 to a local community hub.

Lane End Village Hall has been a core part of the area for years, so when the team and residents at Care UK’s Ridley Manor discovered the building needed restoration, they set to work.

The home organised a fete with stalls including a hamper raffle, tombola, book stand and puzzle table.

The day raised over £400 for the village hall, with Care UK matching this to increase it to £800. The funds will go towards the refurbishment of their Sycamore Room.

Long-standing Lane End locals and care home residents Margaret Wilcox and Betty Twitchen, alongside Lifestyle Lead Sree Lakshmi Suresh, presented the contribution to community members at the village hall.

Margaret Croxson, Trustee at Lane End Village Hall, said “We really can't thank Ridley Manor enough for this, it means so much to us. We're planning the refurbishment of our Sycamore Room with the money, and once finished, we can’t wait to invite the team and residents at Ridley Manor for a photo opportunity!”

Estelle Adriaans, General Manager at Ridley Manor, said: “We had a wonderful time at our fete, and it was great to present the donation to such a worthwhile cause in our community.

“Here at Ridley Manor, we’re keen to create strong links with local groups and provide support where we can. We are honoured to aid this community hub, which we know will benefit a huge amount from the funds we raised.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us for our fete and helped us reach our target. Lane End Village Hall helps connect so many people in Lane End, and we hope our funds will aid in continuing its important work.”

Ridley Manor provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to lead fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the home incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies, including a cinema, hair and beauty salon and café.
