Knutsford care home launches veterans’ breakfast club

A care home in Knutsford recognised for its high standards of person-centred care for veterans has introduced a new quarterly event.

Care UK’s Cranford Grange, on Hall Lane in Mobberley, invited the community to its first free veterans’ breakfast club this month.

The home’s team welcomed Sebastian Edwards‑Beech from Homes at Ease and Armed Forces Community HQ CIC and Visiting Support Officer for the Wilmslow and Handforth Support Group, to mark the launch with a talk about the important work he does to support the armed forces community.

Cranford Grange’s new initiative has been accredited by the Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club and will continue to run quarterly throughout the year.

At the events, guests will be able to learn more about how the team supports veterans over a breakfast specially prepared by the home’s head chef.

Daniel Cole, Home Manager at Cranford Grange, said: “As members of the Veteran Friendly Framework programme, we’re so proud to have launched the veterans’ club at the home. Many residents here are veterans, so it is a pleasure to run this initiative in their honour.

“I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Sebastian Edwards-Beech for joining us. His work is truly inspiring and makes a huge difference to the lives of veterans.

“We look forward to welcoming veterans from across Knutsford and beyond to our quarterly gatherings moving forward.”

Cranford Grange also holds Veteran Friendly Framework status. In achieving this, the home was required to meet eight standards, including noting armed forces status within care plans, addressing social isolation and signposting to support services such as the local Royal British Legion branch and other charities that provide help for veterans and their partners.

Cranford Grange provides residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the home incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies. The building includes its own cinema, pub and hair and beauty salon, and has been configured into a series of neighbourhoods to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage interaction among the residents.
