Laughter and magic were on the agenda as a care home in Sutton Coldfield welcomed the local community for a special evening.
Care UK’s Bishops Manor, on Jockey Road, guaranteed giggles as it opened its doors for a comedy show to celebrate World Laughter Day.

Guests were joined by father-and-son duo Alex and George from AGMagicians, who delivered close-up magic tricks and interactive comedy routines, including mind-reading, card tricks and magic stunts that had residents and guests laughing throughout the evening.
Residents, staff and visitors were treated to canapés made by the home’s head chef and a glass of prosecco as they enjoyed the double act, with many guests getting into the spirit of the evening by wearing fancy dress accessories provided by Alex and George, including viking helmets and brightly coloured wigs.
Resident Sid Knight, 89, said: “It was so nice to have a light-hearted evening with a bit of comedy and magic.
”I loved being able to sit with a beer and enjoy it with some of the Sutton Coldfield community. It felt really special.”
Jody Sedgwick, Home Manager at Bishops Manor, added: “We’re thrilled to have opened our doors to the people of Sutton Coldfield and beyond for an afternoon filled with laughter and joy.
“For older people, reminiscing about nostalgic events and watching live entertainment can help bring back happy memories, as well as prompt conversation and connection with those around them. It was lovely watching residents connect with guests and bond over their shared interest in comedy and magic.
“We hope everyone who attended had a magical time. We can’t wait to welcome the community again for our next event!”
Bishops Manor has a dedicated team offering residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care.
