Football fever has officially kicked off in Hessle as care home residents attended a local college for a morning of sporting fun.
Care UK’s Tranby Park, on Heads Lane West, teamed up with students from St Anne’s School and Sixth Form College to take part in a range of football activities and join the nation in celebrating the huge summer of sport.

The day began with residents and college students taking part in a training session led by PE teacher, Joseph Cockshutt, in the school’s sports hall.
Everyone learned footballing skills such as dribbling and passing before taking part in a penalty shootout.
Resident Phillip said: “I had a wonderful morning, it took me back to my childhood football days, especially when I was in a school team with Bobby Charlton.”
The event was part of Care UK’s ‘Goal-den Moments' initiative, which aims to bring generations together and encourage residents to reminisce about cherished football memories with the local community while sharing new experiences together.
Emma Medici, Home Manager at Tranby Park, said: “We had a ball teaming up with St Anne’s School to take part in a football training session!
For many residents, football is more than just the beautiful game – it represents a lifetime of treasured memories and traditions. This event allowed us to honour these special moments and bring them to life once again.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to bring different generations together for a morning of matchday magic. It was truly heartwarming to watch residents reminisce and share their favourite football stories from years gone by.
“We’d like to extend a huge thank you to St Anne’s School for welcoming us and making this a day to remember. With spirits high, everyone involved proved they still have plenty of goal-den skills to show off!”
