Magna care home supports local monkey sanctuary with chimp-ressive donation drive

A care home in Wimborne has gone bananas for a good cause.

The team at Care UK’s Magna care home, on Arrowsmith Road, donated towels and blankets to Monkey World sanctuary. 

The items were collected via a donation point in the home, encouraging residents and members of the community to donate old items to support Monkey World’s rescue operations. 

The towels and blankets will be used to build nests, help the primates stay warm and comfortable, and even for enrichment activities such as play and hiding food.

Magna residents were also treated to an ape-solutely fascinating visit to the sanctuary, where they met the animals the centre cares for and learnt all about some of the centres most mischievous inhabitants, their rehabilitation journeys and what life looks like for them in the wild. 

Barbara, a resident at Magna, said: “I had a very good time, it was interesting and amazing. It’s so nice to see how the monkeys use the towels and the blankets.” 

Kayleigh Frulli, Home Manager, said: “We’re always looking for meaningful ways to connect with the local community, so we were thrilled to be able to be able to support Monkey World’s rescue operations. 

“Our visit to Monkey World was wonderful and residents had a fantastic time meeting the animals, it was a truly enriching experience. They were all really engaged and left feeling really happy and uplifted, it was lovely to see.

“Outings like these can be incredibly valuable, offering opportunities to get out in the fresh air, get involved with gentle activity and encourage social interaction. All these things play such an important role in enabling residents to lead fulfilling lives.

“We’re already looking forward to our next visit, and to hearing all about how our donations have helped monkeys; thank you to everyone who donated.”
