A resident at a care home in Norwich has enjoyed a (field) trip down memory lane.
John Kemplen, who lives at Care UK’s Cavell Court on Dragonfly Lane in Cringleford, reconnected with his lifelong passion for farming and rural life during a visit to Old Hall Farm in Bungay.

The experience held special significance for John, 86, who previously owned and worked on his own farm caring for cows, horses and pigs.
During the outing, he enjoyed exploring the farm, seeing animals including cows and chickens, and taking in the atmosphere of a working agricultural environment.
As he toured the farm, John shared stories from his years in agriculture and spoke fondly about the livestock he once cared for. The experience provided an opportunity for him to reminisce about an important part of his life while spending time in the countryside.
John said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the day and was delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate farming life once again.”
Pedro Campos, Home Manager at Cavell Court, said: “We are passionate about supporting residents to continue enjoying the hobbies and interests that are important to them. For John, farming has played a significant role throughout his life, so arranging this visit was a wonderful way to help him reconnect with treasured memories.
“Experiences like this encourage reminiscence and help residents to stay connected to the things that have shaped their lives. It was lovely to see how much John enjoyed the day and to hear him sharing stories from his years in farming.”
Cavell Court is a modern care home that provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to lead enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the building has its very own cinema, café and hair and beauty salon, and there is plenty of space – both indoors and out – for relaxation and recreation.
