Solihull care home welcomes nursery for teddy bear picnic

Residents at a care home in Solihull have enjoyed a bear-y special afternoon with children from a local nursery and family.

Care UK’s Blossomfield Grange, on Worcester Way off Dog Kennel Lane, welcomed Mad Hatters Day Nursery for a fun-filled teddy bear picnic. 

The little ones brought their favourite cuddly toys along to join in as they enjoyed tasty treats and refreshments with the residents, including jam sandwiches, fairy cakes, jam tarts and fruit.

The two generations spent time chatting, singing along to music and enjoying each other’s company. 

Resident Rosemary Elias, said: “I remember the sunny days spent with my children and taking them on picnics.

“I didn’t have a teddy bear when I was very young as my family could not afford many toys, but I love the teddy bear I have now because it has a recording of my husband's voice with a special message just for me.”

Melissa Hunter, Home Manager at Blossomfield Grange, added: “We had a lot of fun hosting our picnic and it was great to see so many teddy bears in attendance!

“It was a wonderful opportunity for the residents to share fond memories of their childhood. Intergenerational activities like this are so important, as they help residents to stay engaged socially by getting involved with the local community.

“We’d like to thank everyone at Mad Hatters Day Nursery and residents’ families for coming by and helping make this day so memorable.”
