Uxbridge care home hosts touching wedding celebration

Team members at an Uxbridge care home helped create an unforgettable day for one resident and his family. 

Residents and the team at Care UK’s Denham Manor care home, in Uxbridge, hosted a heartfelt wedding celebration for resident David Pitt and his granddaughter. 

Knowing her grandfather may not be able to able to attend her wedding next year, Cheri, his granddaughter, only had one wish: for him to walk her down the aisle.  To make sure he could still share in such an important milestone, the home team set to organise an unofficial ceremony so he could still play a special role in his granddaughter’s big day.

On the day, Denham Manor was decorated to emulate all the magic of a traditional wedding ceremony, with the lounge area transformed into a reception hall, with flowers scattered around and bridal songs playing. Dressed in white, the bride was proudly walked down the aisle by her grandfather in a touching moment. 

Following the ceremony, guests gathered in the garden for a joyful reception, complete with food and music. 

Cheri, David’s granddaughter, said: “I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who made this day so special for Grandad, myself and Lee. We threw the idea at the team at Denham Manor, and they didn’t hesitate to set up this celebration for us. 

“To have Grandad walk me down the aisle was a dream come true. The team at Denham Lodge were amazing and we can’t thank them enough for helping us pull this together! It was a beautiful day spent with my beautiful family – and I appreciate every single person who turned up to celebrate with us, they all knew why we were doing this. 

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
