A care home in Edinburgh is feeling the beat by supporting emerging dance talent.
As part of its commitment to the surrounding community, Care UK’s Lauder Lodge in Portobello has presented KIC Dance Company with £500.

The community organisation provides dance classes, workshops and development projects for all ages and abilities across Edinburgh and the Lothians. The donation will help them purchase training kit for their competition squads.
Sharon Jones at KIC Dance Company, said: “Our dancers absolutely love performing for the residents at the home, and we really value the wonderful relationship we have built with both the residents and the staff. Your continued support means so much to our dancers and they will wear their training kit with pride. Thank you, Care UK, for supporting our dancers and helping them feel confident, proud and ready to shine!”
Anees Riaz, Home Manager at the Wakefield Avenue home, added: “KIC Dance Company holds a special place in our hearts and is a firm favourite with the residents, so we’re thrilled to play our part in supporting them.
“The dancers often take centre stage here, getting the residents’ toes tapping during performances. It brings them so much joy and puts a smile on their faces, and we can’t wait to watch them perform again in their new kit!
“At Lauder Lodge, we are committed to building great connections within our local community and this donation is just one of the ways we are getting involved.”
Lauder Lodge is a state-of-the-art care home that provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care. It has its own cinema room, pub and hair and beauty salon, and there is plenty of space – both indoors and out – for relaxation and recreation.
