Leatherhead care home toasts anniversary with garden party

A care home in Leatherhead, Surrey has pulled out all the stops to mark a special anniversary.

It was celebration time at Care UK’s Liberham Lodge, on Rectory Lane in Little Bookham, as residents and team members came together to honour the home’s ninth birthday with a gorgeous garden party.

Residents and guests tapped their feet to live entertainment from the 1950s, 60s and 70s, sang by musical duo Acoustic Bliss. The nostalgic music created a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, with everyone singing along and dancing.

Everyone enjoyed delicious canapés such as grilled teriyaki chicken bites, and melon and prosciutto skewers, specially made by the home’s talented head chef, alongside Pimm's and lemonade, Prosecco, and beer.

Resident Delia Niel, 82, who has lived at the home since 2022, said: "I had such a wonderful time at the party. The garden looked beautiful, and there was a really great mood and atmosphere. The entertainment was fantastic, and I was especially delighted when they played my favourite artist Elton John’s song, I’m Still Standing! It made the day extra special for me.”

The layout of the home has been configured to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among the residents.
