High Wycombe care home welcomes nursery for very special picnic

Residents at a care home in High Wycombe have enjoyed a bear-y special afternoon with children from a local nursery.

Care UK’s Ridley Manor, on The Row, welcomed Lane End Primary School for a fun-filled teddy bears’ picnic.

The care home team set up a scavenger hunt with clues leading to areas in the garden, such as the lavender patch, the shed and the garden hose. The residents helped the little ones find each location, where teddy bears were waiting to be brought to the picnic.

The children and their very special furry friends enjoyed tasty treats and refreshments with the residents, including a platter of fruit, ice lollies and juice. The two generations spent time chatting, singing along to music and enjoying each other’s company.

Resident Joan said: “I really enjoyed the picnic with the children, I brought a teddy from my room but can’t remember where I got him from. I love having the children here as they always make me happy.”

Hayley Devereaux, Customer Relations Manager at Ridley Manor, added: “We had a lot of fun hosting our picnic and it was fantastic to see so many children, residents and teddy bears come together for the occasion.

“It was a wonderful opportunity for the residents to share fond memories of their childhood, sparking conversations and creating meaningful connections across generations. Seeing the children engage with residents through games, activities and conversation was wonderful and highlighted the positive impact these interactions can have for everyone involved.

“We’d like to thank everyone at Lane End Primary School for joining us and helping make this day so memorable. We look forward to welcoming them back again soon.”

Ridley Manor provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, the home incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies, including a cinema room, hair and beauty salon and café.
