Care UK shines spotlight on care workers through major film partnership

Care UK is proud to announce its exclusive partnership with upcoming British comedy film Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint.

Ahead of the film's nationwide cinema release on November 6th, Care UK has teamed up with production companies Shush Films and SUMS, alongside distributor Signature Entertainment, to celebrate the vital role care workers play in supporting residents to live fulfilling lives while helping to tackle social isolation. The heart of the film explores themes of community spirit and engagement, meaningful occupation and person-led care.

Starring John Bradley, Celia Imrie, Richard E. Grant and Jim Broadbent, Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint tells the story of a struggling care home that is brought together by an ambitious Christmas production. Through humour and heartfelt moments, the film explores issues that resonate strongly with the care sector, including loneliness, belonging, meaningful occupation and the power of relationships in later life.

As the care sector partner, the collaboration aligns with Care UK's ongoing commitment to combating loneliness and social isolation among residents; supporting them to lead fulfilling lives. Across its 265 homes, teams create opportunities for residents to pursue hobbies, remain active in their community, build new friendships and take part in experiences that promote wellbeing and a sense of purpose.

Jacqui White, Care UK's Director of Marketing and Communications, said: “As we enter the festive period, we are delighted to be able to celebrate the fact that Care UK colleagues and others in the care sector are going above and beyond to ensure those living in our homes feel loved and supported. We are incredibly grateful for the work our teams do at this time of year in supporting older people to live connected and fulfilling lives.”

Hundreds of Care UK colleagues from across the country have been invited to attend an exclusive red-carpet premiere of the film in London’s West End.

Alongside the premiere event, residents across Care UK homes will have the opportunity to enjoy screenings of Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint in their home cinemas during the festive season, bringing residents and colleagues together.

The partnership also represents an opportunity to raise awareness of the positive impact care professionals have on residents' lives, and to celebrate the dedication of colleagues working across the sector.

Producer Andy Brunskill said: "While we hope Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint appeals to young and old alike, the film is about community, the prevention of loneliness and ultimately the saving of a care home from redevelopment, so Care UK was the perfect partner for it. It’s so great to be able to give residents in Care UK homes across the UK an opportunity to see the film this festive season, with an audience in the homes’ in-house cinemas. The film was made with great respect for the UK’s care workers, so it’s also wonderful to be giving them an exclusive opportunity to see the film before it’s released.”

Director Jack Spring added: “It's amazing to be working with Care UK on the film. I'm really pleased to have a partner who shares the same values as the film makers as we look to promote the celebration and inclusion of the elderly in society.”

At Care UK, we're proud to recognise and celebrate the incredible work our colleagues do every day to make a positive difference to residents' lives.
