Meet our friendly care team

It is the people who make our home a truly happy and caring one. At Blossomfield Grange, our experienced team of dedicated professionals, all of whom undergo our own in-depth training programme. The whole team works to make sure that residents' needs are at the heart of everything they do and that personalised care is provided.

Cheryl Harbourne

General Manager

Cheryl Harbourne

I’m an experienced manager, having joined Blossomfield Grange from a Commissioning Manager position at another care provider.

I’m also trained as a Registered General Nurse and have achieved a diploma in neuroscience and a Leadership and Management in Care Services qualification. I decided to join Care UK because it’s a provider with a great reputation.

As a General Manager, you need to be patient, calm and compassionate. It’s important to have a warm approach and also a good sense of humour! The most important part of my role is ensuring residents are living safe and happy lives, and I find that to be the most fulfilling part of what I do. Seeing happy residents, happy colleagues and a happy home makes me proud.

I’ve had several high points along my career. I was really proud to be awarded an MBE for services to veterans during the pandemic, and, in 2020, I took a home to 'Outstanding' rating in all five domains.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my dog Violet, holidaying in the Lake District and watching Formula One.

Mussarat Ashraf
Deputy Manager

Since coming here in 2006 I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles starting as a Care Assistant and progressed to Deputy Manager. Whilst here I qualified as a nurse and I knew in my heart that this is where I belonged as I felt part of a family here at Blossomfield Grange. Working here gives me the opportunity to work alongside such caring and professional colleagues and such amazing residents. I am proud to be a part of such a prestigious organisation and I take pride in ensuring the residents receive quality care every day. Our mission to champion the quality of Life for all residents remains a central point in my heart.

Jo Hopkins
Director of Community Relations

My role within Blossomfield Grange is to help and support families who are looking into care and a new home for their loved ones. This can be an upsetting time for all involved and may be a whole world they may never have explored before, so it is absolutely essential that we listen and capture the needs and individuality of the new potential resident, whilst also offering the family reassurance and trust. The end result seeing their loved one move in, settle and be happy and the positive impact this has on the whole family is extremely rewarding. It's a real privilege to be a part of the team at Blossomfield Grange and getting to know all the wonderful residents.

Samantha Birks
Activities Lead

I started work in another one of our communities, Metchley Manor, in various roles. In 2014 I moved here as Activities and Volunteers Cooordinator. I am a qualified florist with a love of gardening and flowers and have taken a keen interest in the beautiful gardens we enjoy here at Blossomfield Grange, starting a hugely popular gardening club. I thoroughly enjoy getting to know the residents, their individual likes and dislikes, as well as the interesting lives many of them have led.

Pete Bentley
Head Chef

I have worked in the healthcare sector since 2014, previously working for a different care home operator. I heard good things about Blossomfield Grange and Care UK so decided to make the move.

As Head Chef, I manage the entire dining experience for residents with my team. Having patience, being able to multi-task, be approachable, and having good communication skills is key.

My favourite part of my role is right at the end of service, knowing all the residents enjoyed their meals. It’s incredibly rewarding to create menus with their feedback that they love.

Carole Hobbs
Business Administrator

I’ve worked in office administration in different care homes for many years. I enjoy doing admin work in a care setting. There’s always a lot to do, so it’s important to have good time management skills, the ability to juggle different tasks, to remain calm under pressure, and to have a good attention to detail.

Empathy is important too when you’re supporting older people and their families. I love helping the residents and their families with any queries they have. It’s a pleasure to do whatever I can for them and it makes every day different.

I like to keep busy at work and in my free time, when you might find me going to the theatre, shopping or spending time with family.

Kirsty Bird
Reminiscence Coordinator

I have worked here since 2014 as a Senior Care Assistant in the Reminiscence neighbourhood. I have recently taken the Reminiscence Coordinator role on permanently after completing maternity cover and will continue managing the care and the team to the best of my ability.

Sean Farrell
Maintenance

I used to be an Engineer but made the move to Blossomfield Grange to manage the maintenance of the care home because I liked the idea of working in an environment where I was helping residents.

I love meeting new residents and having a chat on a day-to-day basis, finding out about them and their lives before they joined the home. I enjoy meeting new residents and hearing their old stories of the past.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my daughter, playing football, golf and going to the gym.

Our experienced teams

Every day Care UK colleagues live our values of passionate, caring and teamwork to empower residents to enjoy fulfilling lives.

Carers

Our hardworking teams always keep individuals and their families at the heart of the care they provide. We work with you to shape the care your loved one receives, the food they’re served, the activities and experiences they want to do – even the ways they prefer to keep in touch with their friends and family.

Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.

All our teams get to know each person they care for to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes.

Infection control

Each of our homes have a trained Infection Control and Prevention Champion – they are responsible for carrying out daily infection control audit and ensuring cleaning protocols are meticulously applied.
