Cumberland is a small, welcoming care home in Mitcham in Surrey that provides quality dementia and nursing care for older people.
We pride ourselves on providing tailored care for people with a range of needs – even those living with severe dementia. We get to know each new resident, from their physical needs through to their personality, what they like to do, where they used to live, their hobbies and interests. Then we set about creating care and lifestyle plans that are unique to them.
Keeping active each day
We believe that when a person is enjoying their favourite activities in a setting where they feel secure and cared for, they will feel happy and relaxed. We tailor activities to residents’ interests so that they can enjoy meaningful experiences every day. We might to arts and crafts, have a news review session, watch a film or do a reminiscence activity – everything is designed around the people we care for.
We love welcoming visitors to the home, whether they’re entertainers coming to perform for us, therapy animals arriving for a cuddle, or local schoolchildren popping in to do activities. Some residents also like to get out and about, with a stroll into Mitcham, a visit to the local garden centre, or to an urban farm.
Enjoying every comfort
Cumberland care home is a comfortable and homely place to be. The home has activity and sensory rooms, a quiet room, a comfortable lounge and dining room, as well as inviting outdoor spaces that are wheelchair accessible. Bedrooms are spacious and cosy, with ensuite facilities, and your loved one can personalise their room however they wish. There’s also a 24-hour nurse call system and TV connection point in each room.
