At Elizabeth Lodge care home in Enfield, we organise lots of individual and group-based activities that are all based around residents’ own interests.
We encourage residents to take part in the day-to-day life of the home in any way they want to – it’s part of our commitment to Activity Based Care. Our activities co-ordinators love finding out what residents want to try out and looking for engaging and inspiring places to visit. Some people enjoy laying the tables for mealtimes, while others like to arrange flowers or make art to display around the home. Lots of residents like getting stuck into some gardening too.
Activities for everyone
Examples of the activities we offer include arts and crafts, board games, card making and cooking. We have a film club and a book club, and once a week we get to enjoy some lively virtual entertainment. Our Nintendo Wii Fit games console is very popular too.
Enjoying good food
Mealtimes are always a sociable occasion at Elizabeth Lodge and our dining room has a lovely atmosphere – it feels like eating out at a nice hotel. Residents are able to help themselves to drinks and snacks at any time of the day or night, or of course one of our team members will bring them tasty snacks and drinks whenever they would like them.
Services and support
Several GPs make visits to Elizabeth Lodge and many residents keep the same doctor that they’ve had for many years. We always have a doctor available on call and we have weekly visits from a psychiatrist and community matron too. A chiropodist comes to the home every six weeks and we can easily arrange appointments with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dieticians and other healthcare professionals whenever they’re needed.
We have a hairdresser here one day a week and one of our lifestyle co-ordinators is a trained aromatherapist – she offers residents aromatherapy massages as well as beauty treatments such as manicures and pedicures.
