Deputy Manager

I’m a Registered General Nurse, and I relocated to the UK to join Care UK in 2021. I was excited to be part of a growing organisation whose vision and values of making a real difference in residents’ quality of life I loved.

I’m proud of the advancements I’ve made in my career. I began as a Nurse at Care UK’s Hartismere Place, and then becoming the Deputy Manager here at Haven Lodge was my greatest accomplishment to date. It can be really challenging to transition into a new role, and I feel fulfilled when I see the positive improvements I can make in the lives of residents and my team.

As Deputy Manager, it’s important to have experience with effective communication and active listening and to be able to understand team members, residents and relatives.

The best part of my day is when I spend time with residents and see them happy. I’m proud to support residents, family members and my colleagues.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my niece and nephew.

Lifestyle Coordinator

I was trained as a Care Assistant in May 2023 and was working in that role before becoming the Lifestyle Coordinator at Haven Lodge. I chose to work at Care UK because their values align with my own, and I believe we offer residents a good quality of life. Working in care is the best thing I can do to help and care for other people.

It’s my job to fulfil residents’ lives to the best of my ability. As Lifestyle Coordinator, I believe it’s important to be friendly, passionate, patient and non-judgmental towards others.

Every day at Haven Lodge is different. I can’t choose a favourite part of the day because I absolutely love everything about my role. It’s very rewarding, and I always feel like I’ve made a difference to someone’s day. Seeing the residents on the floor where I work making progress and coming out of their shells makes me proud of what I do.

The biggest highlight of my time at Haven Lodge so far was receiving a GEM award and passing training courses in Namaste care and mental health first aid.

When I’m not working, I love being with family and friends and visiting beautiful places around the country. I also love producing music and playing at gigs on the weekends.

Head Chef

I joined Haven Lodge because I thought it would offer a great opportunity to progress in my career, and it felt very homely.

In my role as Head Chef, it’s important to have confidence, patience and understanding. You also need to be adaptable, friendly and caring. The most important part of what I do at Haven Lodge is ensuring residents are offered choices and are happy with my cooking.

I love going the extra mile with food to ensure residents are enjoying their mealtime. It makes me feel proud of what I do when people give me amazing feedback about the quality of my food.

Outside of work, I like swimming, roller skating, scooting and biking.

Maintenance

I joined Care UK in 2021, my previous role was at Vecas in mechanical engineering.

To be successful in this role you must ‘measure twice and cut once’, have two pairs of hands and be a good listener.

The highlight every day when I come to work is seeing the residents at Haven Lodge, happy and smiling. It really does brighten up my day. I am most looking forward to improving the look of the rooms and getting to know all aspects of the care industry.
