Fun activities and variety are the secrets to keeping active and engaged at Mill View care home.
We all need things to look forward to, so we make sure there’s always a buzz in our care home, with different activities taking place. Our activity co-ordinators plan each week’s activities in advance to ensure there’s something to appeal to everyone. Aside from residents’ families and friends, lots of people stop by to see us, including professional entertainers and school groups.
We hold lots of events at Mill View that residents, families, the team in the home, and the community can enjoy. These have included midsummer events with Pimm’s and strawberries and cream, delicious barbecues, and open days with amazing entertainers and live music.
Our diary is always full of different activities for residents to take part in every day – all of them chosen from feedback and suggestions from the residents themselves. These include arts and crafts, reminiscence, exercise classes, games and quizzes, as well as regular visits from animals including dogs, miniature ponies, owls and more.
As well as events and activities, many residents enjoy helping out with tasks around the home, often using their experience and knowledge to help the team. This may include assisting the maintenance manager with some DIY, or helping in the garden.
In the mood for food
Meals are a highlight at Mill View and a chance to sit and chat with friends and enjoy generous and delicious meals made from quality ingredients. Our care home's catering team makes a point of sitting with residents on a regular basis to make sure that they’re enjoying the meals and to find out what they’d like more of. Snacks and drinks are available throughout the day for residents and visitors alike.
We’re continuing to grow strong links within East Grinstead and have connections with many voluntary groups and families in the local community to help enrich the lives of our residents and support community carers. Representatives from different faiths come into the care home and hold services. We also have links with local healthcare professionals, including GPs, chiropodists and physiotherapists, who regularly visit Mill View to ensure that residents are as fit and healthy as possible.
