There was plenty of horsing around at Ventress Hall when the home welcomed a very unusual visitor.
Mollie the Dartmoor pony was a big hit when she paid a visit and spent some time meeting residents and enjoying some treats.
Ten-year-old Mollie has recently retired from teaching children to ride and now has a new career as a therapy pony.
Chosen for her calm and placid nature, Mollie was happy to be stroked and petted and many of the residents enjoyed feeding her some treats of cake, Polo mints and carrots.
Seeing a 12-hand high pony in the building was an unusual sight and Mollie’s visit bought back fond memories for a few of the residents brought up around horses and there was a special connection made with one resident who had owned horses in the past.
It is hoped Mollie will make a return visit to the home in the future for some more treats and another tour of the home.
