Mercia Grange recently surprised an 82-year-old resident with a trip to the theatre.
The team at Care UK’s Mercia Grange on Lichfield Road runs a Wishing Tree initiative to help make residents’ wishes come true. They decided to surprise resident – and theatre-lover – Freda Robinson, with a trip to Birmingham’s Hippodrome to see the stage production of ‘Calendar Girls’.
Team members Samantha Jones, Belinda Piovesana and Sandra Barnes joined Freda for an evening performance of the hit stage show, which proved a delight for the fun-loving octogenarian.
Home manager, Shirley Gibbs, said: “Residents are at the heart of everything we do here at Mercia Grange, and we always like to go the extra mile to grant their wishes. I am really pleased that we were able to make Freda’s dream of going to the theatre a reality.
“Freda loves to get out and about and really enjoys socialising. She talked passionately to the lifestyle team about wanting to go to the theatre, so we popped her wish on the wishing tree, and the rest, as they say, is history.
“Freda told us she’d had a wonderful evening. I’d like to say a big thank you to Freda’s family for helping us grant the wish. We’re looking forward to making another wish come true soon.”
