It’s been an exciting December for one resident at Queen’s Court, who marked a very special birthday with a big celebration at the home.
Nora, who turned 100 years’ young, enjoyed a party organised by the team at the home, themed around some of her favourite things.
Having received her card from the Queen, Nora enjoyed a socially distanced, but still very much full of fun party that celebrated her Irish heritage. This included dancing to some music from the ‘Emerald Isle’ and a delicious shamrock shaped cake designed and baked especially for her by the chef at the home.
As Nora’s Catholic religion is very important to her, the home team arranged a blessing on her big day from a local priest, and she spent the day sharing her life stories, dancing and smiling. She even got to wear a large Happy Birthday hat which everyone agreed looked fantastic!
As Queen’s Court has recently been able to install a visiting suite at the home – a dedicated room accessed from the home’s garden with clear screen so loved ones can visit safely – Nora was also able to celebrate her birthday with her family in person too. Despite the restrictions in place this year, Nora celebrated her birthday with a bang, and everyone enjoyed being able to get involved in her special day.
