Prince George House welcomed local people to the home for a day of family fun to mark Suffolk Day 2019.
Residents at the care home were joined by teams from the 10 other Care UK homes in the area, as well as members of the local community, to celebrate everything that is great about the county.
To celebrate this year’s theme, farmers and land girls, the home hosted a special country fair. There was something for everyone to enjoy on the day, with each home selling handmade items crafted by the residents, as well as a raffle and entertainment from singer, Gina Silburn.
Awards for the best stalls were also presented by regional director for Care UK, Philip Steyn. The categories included ‘Best Themed Stand’, ‘Best Atmosphere’ and ‘Best Overall Home’, as well as a ‘People’s Choice Award’, which was voted for by visitors.
Melissa Cuevas, deputy home manager at Prince George House, said: “Suffolk Day is a highlight for many people in the community – not least with residents here at Prince George House - so we’re always delighted to be able to celebrate the occasion with a day of fun activities.
“This year’s event was fantastic, with residents particularly enjoying selling their wares on the stalls. The sun was shining and it was so lovely to see the smiles on everyone’s faces. I’d also like to say a special thank you to the residents and team members from our fellow Care UK homes. It’s always great to bring everyone together, and see so many people enjoying themselves - and our fun day certainly achieved that!”
