Local pupils and residents help open city’s newest care home

Home news

Murrayside is inviting the local community to attend its grand launch event where local heroes will help to officially open the home.

On Thursday 22nd November, from 2pm - 4pm, local people are invited to visit Murrayside on South Beechwood to join in the celebrations.

With the first residents having moved into Murrayside earlier this month, everyone at the home is gearing up to mark its official opening - with a little help from some special guests.

The winner of Edinburgh’s recent ‘Rewarding Resident’ competition, who will be announced to the public at the event, will be cutting the ribbon to officially open the care home, alongside Murrayside’s first resident, Peggy Mayo.

On arrival, guests will be welcomed by George Heriot’s School pipe band. There will also be a musical performance from Balgreen Primary School pupils.

Residents and guests will be able to enjoy a floral art demonstration and have their profile drawn by a professional caricaturist. Visitors can also look forward to mini beauty treatments, including manicures and hand massages.

Those who attend the event will also have the chance to meet the team at Murrayside and take a tour of the care home.

Murrayside home manager, Michelle Reid, said: “Since we opened the doors to Murrayside, we have had such a warm and positive response from those living locally, and we already feel like part of the community. We would therefore like to invite the people of Edinburgh to be part of our official opening celebrations.

“We have planned a family-friendly event to appeal to all generations, and we are delighted to have so many special guests coming along on the day to help us mark this important milestone.”
