Following the popularity of the free Stroke Awareness event held at the Mountfitchet House care home in Stansted Mountfitchet earlier this year, local people are invited to a second event which will take place on Wednesday 21 October.
From 12.30pm to 2pm, Tina Hughes and Beverly Reynolds from the Stroke Association will provide support for those who are caring for loved ones recovering from a stroke. As well as opening up access to expert advice and a range of resources, Tina and Beverly will also be covering how to recognise the signs of a stroke and a Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) – commonly known as a mini stroke.
After the event there will also be a chance for attendees to ask questions and share their own experiences, as well as an opportunity to talk to the team at Mountfitchet House and take a closer look at the care home.
Home manager, Allison Squires, said: “We had such a fantastic response to our first Stroke Awareness event and we received some great anecdotal feedback from attendees, so we are delighted to be joining forces with the Stroke Association for a second free event at Mountfitchet House.
“There is clearly a demand in Stansted and beyond for support on this topic – particularly when it comes to identifying the signs of stroke, as it has been proven that responding quickly can help reduce damage to a person’s brain and improve their chances of a full recovery.
“We are looking forward to opening up the doors to Mountfitchet House on Wednesday 21 October – to answering any concerns and questions local people may have, and providing clearly delivered practical advice.”
Situated on the corner of Coltsfield and High Lane, Mountfitchet House provides a range of care services for older people, including residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short-term respite, palliative, and sensitive end of life care.
