Pilot “taster sessions” proved to be such a success that they will now become part of the services on offer at Collingwood Court.
The pilot involved helping someone who was apprehensive about moving into a care home by offering day care for a while so she could get a good idea of what life at Collingwood Court is like.
She has now become a permanent resident and the scheme was such a success that special day care sessions will now be offered to other people who are unsure about moving into a home.
Our manager Maggie Harrison said: ”The lady in question came in and had meals with us and joined in activities for about five weeks before moving in permanently. A lot of people are reluctant to leave their own homes but this enables people to see what life is like here before they take the plunge. It takes away the stress of having to move into a care home without knowing what it is like.”
