Winchcombe Place is helping to create a dementia-friendly community, by hosting a dementia awareness event on Wednesday 21st February.
From 10.30am-12noon, the local community can drop into Winchcombe Place and learn about what it is like to live with dementia.
Dementia Friends Champion and customer relations manager at Winchcombe Place, Jim Macleod, will provide support and practical advice on what dementia is and how memories are lost, as well as useful tips on how to overcome communication barriers.
Cliff Hutchings, home manager at Winchcombe Place, said: “At Winchcombe Place we have a commitment to encourage others to learn about dementia, as well as help the community turn their knowledge into action by making our community more aware of those living with dementia.
“The aim of the event is to help people discover positive approaches to caring for loved ones and to support them to lead independent and fulfilled lives. We are looking forward to welcoming local people to Winchcombe Place for what promises to be an interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
