Chandler Court welcomed local nursery children to celebrate World Book Day.

Youngsters and Chandler Court residents are on the same page for World Book Day

Residents at Chandler Court were joined by children from Castle Nursery for a fun afternoon to celebrate their love of books.

The children and care home team members dressed up as their favourite characters for the occasion, with Gail Bessent, lifestyle coordinator at Chandler Court, dressed as Princess Elsa, and Anna Perkins, from Castle Nursery, dressed up as Minnie Mouse. The nursery children’s outfits included Mr Men’s Mr Bump, Spiderman and a unicorn.

Residents enjoyed reading stories aloud to the youngsters, with ‘Where the Wild Things Are’, ‘Room on the Broom’ and ‘Dear Zoo’ all proving popular.

Jo Gill, home manager at Chandler Court, said: “At Chandler Court, we enjoy working closely with the local community, and were delighted to celebrate World Book Day with Castle Nursery.

“The communication, interactions and affection between the residents and the children was incredibly moving to see – they loved spending time with each other.

“We are always looking for innovative ways to involve residents in activities and encourage new friendships, and this session was a great opportunity to create special bonds across the generations – young and older people alike really benefit from the social interaction. We look forward to another visit from local nursery very soon!”
