Daniel Cole

Home Manager

Daniel Cole

I’ve worked in the care sector all my career, beginning at the tender age of 15 when I did work experience in a residential home.

I then became a care assistant and worked my way up. The rest is history!

Commissioning a brand new care home is a dream for most Home Managers. You have the chance to shape everything from the team to the home’s values and standards of care. But no Home Manager can do it all by themselves. Success is all about teamwork. If colleagues are happy, then residents will be happy, so I’m looking forward to making Oakfield Croft a home where the team is positive, motivated and everyone loves what they do.

We’re focused on delivering the highest care standards in stunning surroundings at our care home in Sale. I look forward to seeing you at Oakfield Croft soon!

Sarah Mann
Deputy Manager

I’ve been a Registered Nurse for nearly 12 years and have worked in hospitals, in the community, in the prison service and in day care facilities.

However, the care home sector is by far the most rewarding.

I enjoy being a part of residents’ lives and getting to know them over a longer period of time. When you can get to know the individual on a personal level you can ensure they receive optimum care and compassion during their time at Oakfield Croft. I was delighted to receive the ‘shining star’ award at Care UK’s residential care awards in 2019 for my work running a dementia nursing suite. That was a huge personal achievement and career highlight.

In my combined role as Deputy Manager and IPC Lead, it’s my responsibility to support the team and to ensure residents are kept safe. Day-to-day I complete IPC audits and risk assessments, I support the various teams within the home to work safely and hygienically, while working with local community healthcare teams to ensure quality care for residents.

Jayne Eyre
Customer Relations Manager

I used to work in the leisure industry as a Club Manager, overseeing the day-to-day running of the club, membership and the team.

When I was looking for a role that offered more job satisfaction, this role seemed to tick all the boxes.

Moving to a new sector was a challenge at first, but has been exactly what I needed: I’m now helping older people and their families at a time when they really need help and support.

I’ve been very impressed by Care UK. There’s an amazing support structure and the organisation cares a lot about colleagues. There’s also a very clear vision for what the care we provide should look like. It’s all about supporting residents to continue living life to the full.

After a busy and productive day at Oakfield Croft I like to take my dog, Poppy, for a long walk and spend some time with my family. I also enjoy horse riding and going to the gym.

Vivek Jesudas Nayagam
Head Chef

I’m passionate about great food, and about helping to change the way care home catering is viewed.

Care UK is a great place to work for its forward-thinking approach to food and dining for older people.

Standards are the key to success, so, coming in to the home from the start, my priorities have been to set up the kitchen properly: setting robust standards and recruiting and training a team who can meet and maintain those standards.

Quality and attention to detail are vital, and I love getting to know residents’ preferences and then creating dishes that they’ll enjoy. I’m always reading cookbooks and keeping up with the latest cooking trends, and I’m looking forward to enabling residents to enjoy their favourite meals and even try something new.

Emily Coates
Business Administrator

I have always been interested in the way businesses are run and, seeing how successful Care UK is, I decided to apply for the Receptionist/Administrator role when the home opened.

After a year in that role, I moved into my current position as Business Administrator. When I was offered this role it showed me that a year of working hard and pushing myself to learn and develop had paid off.

My favourite part of my day is seeing the residents and making them smile. It’s very rewarding knowing that we are in this job for them. Seeing them happy makes everything worth it. Residents do become like family.

I think a good Business Administrator should be organised and empathetic, and good at multitasking. Focus, patience and a big smile help too! A lot of the role is task-oriented, but it’s also about building relationships with people. I enjoy getting to know new residents, relatives and colleagues, and I’m looking forward to helping to make Oakfield Croft as successful as it can be.

Elaine Clarke
Head Housekeeper

My background is in hotel housekeeping, but when I saw this role, I thought I’d like to use my skills and experience to help older people.

In my role, organisation is key to success. For that reason the morning is my favourite time of the day as it’s my opportunity to help my team to get organised and know what they need to achieve that day.

I love going the extra mile to ensure residents are comfortable and happy. I’m looking forward to creating a happy, close-knit Housekeeping team where colleagues are passionate about the work they do and the difference they can make to residents. I’m determined to make Oakfield Croft a comfortable home from home for residents. I look forward to meeting you in our care home in Sale very soon!

Leon Harney
Maintenance

I joined Care UK for its fantastic reputation for care and quality – and its values were very close to my own.

It also has a beautiful portfolio of new-build homes, including Oakfield Croft. These are beautiful places to live and work.

In this role you need to be a master of multi-tasking, so it’s important to be able to stay focused and calm. You need good problem-solving skills, a good understanding of fire safety and of electrical systems and construction.

I’m enjoying building robust and productive routines and procedures into maintenance at Oakfield Croft. As this is a new home we have a great blank canvas to work from. I get huge satisfaction from fixing any problems and making the home safe and comfortable for residents. I love spending time with residents, chatting to them and listening to their stories about work or how things used to be. I’ve learnt a lot from them.

In my spare time I like to unwind by watching films, enjoying long walks and spending time with my two daughters.
