Meet our friendly care team

It is the people who make our home a truly happy and caring one. At Rossetti House, our experienced team of dedicated professionals all of whom undergo Care UK's in-depth training programme. The whole team works to make sure that residents' needs are at the heart of everything they do and that personalised care is provided.

Phil Vale

General Manager

Phil Vale

I’ve worked for some years in the care sector, including in care quality support roles.

Prior to being General Manager here at Rossetti House, I was Head of Care at the home.

While there’s much to keep me busy in my job, by far my favourite part of the role is spending time with residents, particularly if we’re doing fun activities together. Enabling older people to enjoy life to the full is ultimately what each person who works here is passionate about – including me.

I look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful Frome home very soon and introducing you to our passionate, caring and skilled team.

Helen Cross
Home Admissions Advisor

I joined Rossetti House in 2022 – I used to be a Microbiologist. When I fancied a change, I focused on the part of previous jobs that I’d really enjoyed, and it became obvious that I loved working with people. I saw this position and thought it was very ‘me’.

Of course, there’s been a lot to learn. Having never worked in social care, I’m getting used to ways of working, the terminology and what everyone does. I love any chance I get to interact with others and to make a difference to someone’s day – whether it’s a colleague, resident or a family looking for care for a loved one.

In this role, it’s vital to be warm and welcoming, as well as compassionate and resourceful. Above all, you need to be focused on the needs of the person in front of you. I find it hugely rewarding to find the right solution for a family and to make their lives easier. I can’t wait to keep meeting and supporting families in this way.

Away from work, I like spending time with my family, and taking my grumpy Jack Russell, Jelly, for a walk. Then there’s gardening, crafting, doing puzzles and reading.

Lukasz Smykowski
Head Chef

I’d heard a lot of good things about Care UK before I joined, and I’m proud now to be the Head Chef at Rossetti House. I make sure that everything in the kitchen runs smoothly and that residents are getting the full dining experience during mealtimes.

I’ve achieved my Level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications as well as my Food Safety Level 3.

To be a Head Chef, it’s important that you’re an open and enthusiastic person and, of course, that you love to cook! My favourite part of working at Rossetti House is meeting the residents and talking to them about the foods they like and dislike. It makes me proud to cook for everyone in the care home.

Outside of work, I enjoy motocross and playing football.

Robyn Sowerby
Business Administrator

Before joining Rossetti House I was Team Leader at a mortgage company – I decided to join Care UK because I wanted to help those who work so hard caring for our community.

As Business Admin, it’s important to have flexibility, kindness, and an eye for detail. My favourite part of the day is when residents come to say hello and we get to catch up about their day.

In my spare time I love paddle boarding, yoga, and walking my dogs.

Eve Pursall
Business Administrator

My background in the care sector started in 2014, when I joined the home as a Senior Care Assistant. I’d also been a domiciliary carer. Over time, I’ve developed my skills and been fortunate to be able to move sideways into this role.

All my experience has been invaluable for what I do now: it’s important to understand the challenges families and individuals face when they move into care, and how everything works. Kindness is key when everything’s so new for them.

Every day is different in our Frome care home, and there’s always something new to tackle. The team are all very supportive, and the residents have taught me a lot too. I always enjoy the mid-morning time when residents are ready to start activities and are full of expectation about what the day might bring. I always like to have a chat with them then.

Outside of work time, I like to catch up with family and friends. I also like to travel. I’ve travelled around the world, and it was an unforgettable experience. I also enjoy reading, getting out into the sunshine, playing crazy golf and doing home renovations!

Rossetti House is a very special place to live and to work, and we all look forward to welcoming you to our care home very soon.

Rositsa Dicheva
Head Housekeeper

I love this home. I started here part time and when the opportunity arose to become Head Housekeeper full time I jumped at the chance.

I feel that to be successful as Head Housekeeper, you have to be a team player, have trust in your team, and a real hands-on approach. It makes me very proud to be able to make a positive difference to residents, their families, and my colleagues in the home.

Our experienced teams

Every day Care UK colleagues live our values of passionate, caring and teamwork to empower residents to enjoy fulfilling lives.

Carers

Our hardworking teams always keep individuals and their families at the heart of the care they provide. We work with you to shape the care your loved one receives, the food they’re served, the activities and experiences they want to do – even the ways they prefer to keep in touch with their friends and family.

Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.

All our teams get to know each person they care for to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes.

Infection control

Each of our homes have a trained Infection Control and Prevention Champion – they are responsible for carrying out daily infection control audit and ensuring cleaning protocols are meticulously applied.
