Every member of our team goes ‘over and above’ for residents so they get the most out of every day.
A great example of this is when a person's room is deep cleaned. While the clean is happening, the Head Housekeeper will plan some socially distanced activities with the resident. In the past, residents have opted for a fish and chip lunch, and even a trip on the Thames.
Our CQC report highlights how our colleagues, “are passionate about treating residents equally and fairly whilst recognising and respecting their differences.” We care for people from different cultures, backgrounds and religions – and we’re a diverse team too.
Residents and relatives help to run the home
We take pride in treating everyone with respect and dignity, and ensuring that they feel included. Residents and family members are involved in decision-making, through regular meetings, questionnaires and with the help of a Resident Ambassador, a resident who liaises between colleagues and residents and helps with new colleague recruitment.
“I love it!”
We make the most of our location in South London and have developed an exceptionally varied programme of activities to enjoy. There’s always plenty going on in the home, including quizzes, live entertainment and themed events. Our regular exercise classes are very energetic and noisy – with residents making most of the noise! Rick, our Home Manager, and members of the Lifestyle team dress up in army fatigues and, within minutes, residents are clapping, stamping their feet and singing. One resident says, "We do this every week and I love it."
“In a league of its own.”
We’re always keen to hear suggestions of new things residents would like to try. If there’s a way to do it, we’ll make it happen. One option we’re exploring is glass blowing! A relative, quoted in our CQC report, says, "I'm very impressed all the way through. We looked at loads of homes but Sherwood Grange is in a league of its own."
Keep active and stay safe
At Sherwood Grange our first priority is always your safety. Our dedicated and trained teams strive to ensure the safety of residents and colleagues while keeping life as normal and fulfilling as possible for the people we care for.
All residents are encouraged to socialise within small, socially distanced groups within the home and garden where they are welcome to relax or join in with an activity. Does your loved one enjoy activities such as music and quiz sessions, or baking and art classes? Our lifestyle team plans a weekly programme of varied activities. There’s also time for socially distanced one-to-one activities with individual residents. Whatever your loved one enjoys doing, they’re free to do it at Sherwood Grange.
