Meet our friendly care team

Everyone at Sherwood Grange is passionate about delivering superb care to residents, and making each day special. Our management team, carers, clinical staff, housekeeping, catering and maintenance crews are selected for their skills and attitude, and they all play a part in supporting and caring for residents. Above all, they love what they do.

Kristina Jacunskiene

Home Manager

Kristina Jacunskiene

I joined Care UK in 2014 because it has a reputation for having a clear vision of the high-quality care it aims to provide.

It also helps its people to do their best work. All of that was very similar to my own professional values.

I am a family-orientated person and, outside of work, love spending quality time with my loved ones. I am a keen traveler and love exploring foreign countries, where I learn and experience other cultures.

As a Home Manager, you need to be available for residents, their families and your colleagues at any time. It’s a big responsibility but also a huge privilege. My favourite part of the day is interacting with residents, being able to share their special moments and learn from their wisdom.

My ambition is to lead the Sherwood Grange team by example, by putting quality first in everything we do for residents and their families, and to be the care provider of choice in the community.

Biba Mijalceva
Deputy Manager

I became a registered general nurse in 1993, and I joined Care UK in September 2017 for a fresh challenge.

I’ve worked in different areas of nursing, including caring for people with complex disabilities and brain injuries.

I believe it’s important to be open and honest, and to have empathy and compassion in this role. I work as part of the team to ensure residents are always receiving the best, personalised care. I love making individual residents smile – we can all make a difference to a person’s day.

Throughout 2018 and 2019 we’ve been implementing our own vision and values, which the team have fully embraced. Sherwood Grange has also been working with Care UK in a ‘Good to Great’ programme to focus on achieving an outstanding rating at our next CQC inspection. We’re determined to do it!

Paul Boyce
Customer Relations Manager

I’ve worked in business development in private healthcare, in hotel management and hospitality recruitment.

While moving into the adult social care sector is quite a change for me, Care UK is a market-leading company. I liked its ethos of ‘fulfilling lives’ and I fancied learning new skills and challenging myself in a new environment.

I think my personality and skills lend themselves well to this role. You need to be an energetic ‘people’ person able to build strong, trusting relationships with residents, relatives and colleagues in the home. Having empathy and compassion is vital too because families are often under huge pressure when they get in touch for the first time. It’s up to me to allay their worries, give them the information they need and support them to make the right decision for them and their loved one.

The best part of the day is when I get to walk around the home and see what’s going on. It’s brilliant to see residents happy and doing lots of different activities. My day also involves liaising with families and building strong links with the community. It’s varied and always interesting!

Our experienced teams

Every day Care UK colleagues live our values of passionate, caring and teamwork to empower residents to enjoy fulfilling lives.

Carers

Our hardworking teams always keep individuals and their families at the heart of the care they provide. We work with you to shape the care your loved one receives, the food they’re served, the activities and experiences they want to do – even the ways they prefer to keep in touch with their friends and family.

Nurses

The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.

Lifestyle

Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.

Home support roles

From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring individuals enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.

All our teams get to know each person they care for to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes.

Infection control

Each of our homes have a trained Infection Control and Prevention Champion – they are responsible for carrying out daily infection control audit and ensuring cleaning protocols are meticulously applied.
