I trained as a nurse as I’m passionate about caring and about delivering quality care. Before joining Care UK in 2011 I’d worked for two other healthcare providers. I’d heard about the organisation’s vision for older people’s care, and I was keen to be a part of it.
I believe that making the little moments count is all-important to helping an older person to live a meaningful life. We see the difference it makes and it motivates us to do more. I have a very caring team here at Tall Trees, and each of us, whatever our role, understands that we can make a big difference to residents.
We’ve come a long way together at Tall Trees. We have a great team, and we’re focused on delivering the highest standards of care.
I’m a qualified nurse, and I joined Care UK in 2019 as Deputy Manager at Tall Trees because the organisation has an excellent reputation for providing a high standard of care. Before I joined the Tall Trees team I was Physical Health Lead Nurse at a secure hospital for adults with learning difficulties, mental health conditions and challenging behaviour.
One of my favourite parts of the day is spending time talking to the residents here at Tall Trees. We talk about their day, and about the things they’ve done in their lives, and what they’d like to achieve. As well as helping me to get to know them better, it’s the best way to build a rapport with them.
There’s a great team here at Tall Trees and I’m enjoying supporting them to continue doing their best work – making a difference to the lives of the people we care for, and their families.
I’ve been working for Care UK since 2008. I was new to the care sector when I joined the organisation and it seemed a good place to start. Here I am, ten years later!
By far the best part of my day is the time I get to spend with the residents. Being able to make a difference to help them live more fulfilling lives is a huge privilege, and something I find hugely fulfilling myself.
At Tall Trees, and Care UK as a whole, we’re about delivering a ‘whole home approach’ to care and to helping residents to enjoy meaningful lifestyles. It’s brilliant seeing more and more of my colleagues getting on board and realising that they have an important part to play. Anything can be a meaningful interaction for a resident, whether it’s putting laundry away together or having a chat when you deliver someone a cup of tea.
I joined Care UK and Tall Trees in 2018 when the organisation and home were recommended to me – I’d been working as a head chef for another care provider, and I liked what I was hearing. I fancied a new challenge, so here I am.
I’m passionate about making great food that residents love, and I’m always looking at new ways to improve quality and variety. I’ve got lots of ideas of things to do here at Tall Trees, and I’m looking forward to making them happen.
The best part about what I do is seeing happy, content and smiling residents. That means happy relatives and happy colleagues!
In my free time, I love being active and outside. I have my own horse, called Lottie, who I ride a lot. I go dog walking and swimming as well.
I joined Care UK back in 2008 because I was keen to work in an office-based role again (I’d been working overseas as a holiday rep before coming here). I also like helping people, so this was the perfect choice. The role offered good flexibility too: my son was young at the time.
I was delighted to make my decade’s service in July 2018. I love the variety of this role: no two days are the same. There are always challenges – Care UK uses various software systems that need to be mastered – but it keeps things interesting, and there’s always good training and support provided.
Outside of work my two children keep me busy. If I get any time to myself, I might go out for the evening, or maybe settle for a quiet glass of wine at home!
I was self-employed for 34 years before joining Care UK in 2012. I decided to work here as I really enjoyed my initial interview, I felt instantly welcomed and love the interaction with the residents.
To do my job well you need to have a love of people and a want to make a difference. Career highlights for me include being nominated for awards and doing the voice over of several Care UK videos. My favourite part of my job is being able to spend time with the residents and the team – we’re like one big family.
Outside of Tall Trees I enjoy gardening and spending time with my five grandchildren.
I’ve been bringing smiles to the faces of residents, visitors and colleagues ever since I joined Tall Trees in late 2016. I love living here: there’s always someone to make a fuss of me and give me a treat, which are my most favourite things.
I like to start my day with a sausage-based breakfast before doing the rounds of the home, collecting cuddles and tummy pats from the lovely residents. I like to look my best for residents and visitors, and that sometimes means dressing up. If someone wants to go for a walk around the garden, I’m always happy to tag along. After that, it’s time for a snooze before I do my rounds again.
