Investment in mental health services

Company news

To support this aim, Care UK has committed to significant investment in their mental health services to develop and improve existing facilities to create environments conducive to rehabilitation.

This year has seen such investment in two facilities already and similar developments for other care homes are planned for the year ahead.

June saw the opening of a new independent living service in Lincolnshire. The three-bedroom bungalow is located within the grounds of existing care home Beach Lodge. The new service offers a step-down facility, focusing on rehabilitation and independent living skills with the aim of enabling service users to move back into their own homes in the community. The home is working in close partnership with local social services departments and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust to ensure that recovery pathways and support packages are in place to achieve this aim.

Building works are underway at Brierley Court Independent Hospital in Manchester to develop a new independent living flat and improve facilities for the rest of the home. The independent living flatlet will consist of two ensuite bedrooms, a lounge and ADL kitchen, whilst the rest of the home will benefit from two new and more spacious lounges, a recreation/activities room, new offices, a new dining room, improved disabled facilities and landscaped grounds. This will provide the home with the facilities to continue to meet the service users needs as they change over time.
