Zoe Spalding, administrator at Mowat Court, decided to give something back to the charity that helped her return to work, by trekking across Cuba.
She raised money for Aberdeen Foyer, a local charity that supports homeless and disadvantaged young people.
Zoe, who is a single parent, was helped by the Working for Families aspect of Aberdeen Foyer to return to work after the birth of her child.
She said: “I was determined to work and not sit around on benefits. Working for Families helped me in a number of ways, including providing vouchers for new clothes for job interviews and with financial support towards the initial costs of childcare. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.”
Speaking of her role at Mowat Court she said: “It’s a great job. It’s the first time I have worked in a nursing home, and I work with a lot of good people. It’s very fulfilling.”
Zoe’s trek across Cuba started on October 17th. Karren Cryle, manager at Mowat Court, commented: “We are all really proud of Zoe and her commitment to raise funds for the charity which has given her so much help. She has our full support for her venture.”
