"The financial pressures will be very challenging for the NHS in the coming years but I believe that they are focussing on this in exactly the right way.  There is a huge opportunity for the development of better quality solutions to provide much better patient experience at significantly lower cost.

The introduction of competition and choice has already greatly benefited the NHS and patients by driving efficiencies and cutting waiting times. To ensure there is no need to cut services in the coming years the NHS should be looking to further liberate the undoubted talents within the NHS and the independent health sector by increasing competition and choice to drive innovation and fundamental reform.  This will enable the NHS to deliver more with less and will safeguard the founding principle of care free at the point of delivery."
