Green Paper needs to look at integration of social care and increasing flexibility and choice

Geoff Benn, Group Development Director, said:

“We are looking forward to examining the detail in the Green Paper.  We hope that in addition to looking at all aspects of funding of social care, it delivers efficiencies in the system through, for example, the opportunities for better integration between health and social care in the public sector.  This makes huge sense – not just in terms of cost savings but it also offers vast scope for simplifying the whole system for the people that use it.  During the consultation phase we will also be making strong recommendations that the  Government does more to deliver flexibility and choice in care for older people and those with disabilities to meet not just the growing demand for care but also the rising the expectations of society.”
