Helping young people back on their feet

Company news

Care UK’s Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre, has seen an increase in younger NHS patients coming through its doors.  Most are sports injury cases and the prompt and effective treatment is helping hundreds of younger people to get back to normal family life, work and sports activities.

Twenty six year old Jon Turner of Mosborough, Sheffield is very grateful to staff at Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre after recently having his second successful operation which has enabled him to continue caring for his three young children.  He had surgery on his metatarsal bone in his foot following a hereditary condition.  Jon, a single father, hadn’t heard of the Centre until he was offered it as an option by his GP.  Following the success of surgery on his metatarsal he went on to have surgery on his toes which previously made him unable to do simple things such as walking his children to school or taking them to the local park.  Jon comments: “Barlborough offers a top quality and professional service. The staff are friendly and they always listen. I would recommend it to anyone needing treatment.”

The Centre has been open for just over five years and is run by Care UK, an independent company with an impressive track record in patient care and clinical success, on behalf of the NHS for NHS patients only. It prides itself on providing the best patient care at its unique facility in friendly and comfortable surroundings. The Centre, which has never had a case of hospital acquired MRSA or C-difficile, is situated less than one mile from Junction 30 of the M1 which makes it very accessible and the parking is free. Providing high quality specialist orthopaedic care for the people of South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire, the Centre undertakes hip and knee replacements, revisions, shoulder surgery, minor and major foot and hand procedures.

Graeme Kendall, Manager at Care UK’s Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre said: “We cater for all ages at the Centre and our team of fantastic consultants, surgeons and nursing staff ensure that all patients receive the highest quality care and treatment. Although we are perhaps best known for carrying out replacement hip and knee operations, local people are increasingly realising that we are also able to treat things like carpal tunnel syndrome, anterior cruciate ligament damage which is a common sports injury and also bunions due to wearing high heeled footwear.”
