Bug free awareness at Barlborough

Company news

As part of the national ‘Infection Prevention and Control Week’ staff at Care UK’s Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre are going to  find out how clean people’s hands really are.  The theme for the week which runs from 18-22 October is ‘when did you last clean your hands?’

Health practitioners will be visiting patients on the wards and waiting rooms to highlight the importance of thorough hand washing.  The hospital prides itself on its impeccable cleanliness so during this week it will be holding ‘Glitter Bug’ training workshops on hand hygiene for patients, staff and visitors.  Glitter Bug makes hand hygiene education interesting and memorable; it’s a fluorescent lotion that is used with a UVA lamp making it possible to see how well hands have been washed.

Graeme Kendall, Manager at Care UK’s Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre said: “Infection prevention is understandably very important to everyone at the Centre. This promotional week will highlight to patients and visitors at the Centre how important simple things such as washing your hands really are.  The Centre prides itself on its extremely low infection rates and has never had a case of hospital acquired MRSA.”

Run by an independent company with an impressive track record in patient care and clinical success, on behalf of the NHS for NHS patients only, the Centre provides day care and inpatient orthopaedic surgery for patients from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. It prides itself on providing the best patient care at its unique facility in friendly and comfortable surroundings.
