Help to get customers springing back into action

Company news

Following very successful information sharing days at shopping centres and garden centres across the region, staff from Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre will be running a more unusual stand on Wednesday 20th October at Springfields Outlet Shopping Centre featuring information about hip and knee replacement operations.

Shoppers at the popular Lincolnshire outlet will be able to visit the stand and examine examples of actual knee and hip prostheses.  It’s surprising how many people suffer in silence with an orthopaedic condition, but having a presence in the shopping centre will allow the team from Barlborough to raise awareness of the treatments available for NHS patients at this popular hospital.

The hospital carries out almost one in five of the NHS hip and knee replacement operations in the East Midlands and South Yorkshire region.  The stand will be staffed by employees from the hospital and they are hoping that they will also meet some of the 4000 former patients who have recently shown their support for the Centre – a factor in helping to seal the hospital’s future for the next 25 years.  Items such as pens, mugs and coasters, along with literature, will be given out to visitors on the day.

Graeme Kendall, General Manager at Care UK’s Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre said: “Our information sharing days to date have been an overwhelming success. Shopping can often bring it home to people with joint problems that it might be time to take their doctor’s advice and seek a joint replacement.  This popular shopping outlet gives people the opportunity to come and chat to us informally.  Visitors can also find out about the range of other procedures that we offer.  My staff are a very big asset and they are looking forward to meeting new faces at the shopping mall.  Run by an independent company with an impressive track record in patient care and clinical success, on behalf of the NHS for NHS patients only, the Centre provides day care and inpatient orthopaedic surgery for patients from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. It prides itself on providing the best patient care at its unique facility in friendly and comfortable surroundings. The Centre prides itself on its extremely low infection rates and has never had a case of hospital acquired MRSA.

The Centre, is situated less than one mile from Junction 30 of the M1 which makes it very accessible and the parking is free.

Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre staff will be at Springfields Outlet Shopping & Festival Gardens, Camelgate, Spalding, Lincolnshire on WEDNESDAY 20th October, 9am-5.30pm.
