Station House manager celebrates 10 years of success

Ten years of hard work, success and innovation in care were celebrated recently when Carole Wardle was joined by staff, residents, friends and family to toast her anniversary as manager at Station House nursing home, Crewe.

Carole has helped to make the nursing home, which has 69 residents, one of the best in the country, carrying the Care Quality Commission’s highest inspection rating of three stars, or Excellent.

Carole’s innovative and compassionate approach to care has led to a string of awards for the home. In 2010 Carole won the North West Care Award, impressing judges with her commitment to developing care for residents with dementia. She was also a finalist in the 2011 National Dementia Care Awards for her work championing dignity in care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and similar conditions.

Carole’s deputy of seven years, Sarah Evans said: “Carole has an ability to draw out people’s strengths and develop their skills and confidence. She is an incredible trainer and manager.”

Carole’s deep commitment to enriching the lives of people in residential care is also praised by residents’ families. Sarah said: “We have such a wonderful collection of letters from relatives thanking us for the dignity, care and joy we have brought to their loved ones’ lives.”
