Alice is in wonderland after big royal thank you

Company news

Alice, a resident of Mowat Court care home in Aberdeenshire, was encouraged to send a card to the couple by her key worker from Care UK, Dorothy Millar, after mentioning how delighted she was that the couple were soon to wed. What Alice didn’t realise at the time was that her kind gesture would prompt some rather special correspondence in return.

A letter arrived at Mowat Court addressed to Alice and bearing the Royal insignia. It said: “Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton have asked me to thank you for your very kind card. News of the forthcoming wedding has cheered up so many people and I do hope that you will be able to watch the ceremony on the television. It will be a splendid day.”

The letter went on: “His Royal Highness and Miss Middleton have been overwhelmed by the incredibly kind response following the announcement of their engagement, and were immensely touched that you should take the trouble to send a card. It was greatly appreciated and Prince William and Miss Middleton have asked me to send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.”

Alice, who has lived at Mowat Court for the last four years, was over the moon to receive a Royal response … and she was not the only one. Another letter arrived from St. James Palace a few days later but this time for Dorothy and the rest of the staff at Mowat Court.

Again, written on behalf of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, it said: “You are involved in such a worthwhile profession and it was so good of you to have found the time to do such a splendid thing for Alice.”
