Love is in the air for home which sets the standard in dementia care

The air was filled with flowers, candlelight and romance for the 20 residents, partners and families who enjoyed a special St Valentine’s dinner at Chalfont Court nursing home on Wednesday (16th February).

Activities Co-ordinator Emily Stimpson created and cooked a four-course meal at the Rickmanswoth home which included homemade chicken liver pate with heart shaped toast, soup and a choice of main courses and desserts.

Emily said: ”It was hard work, but worth every minute to see the look on people’s faces. We created a restaurant atmosphere and everyone got dressed up as if they were going out. We had so many lovely comments from residents and their families as it recreated happy times of celebration.”

The nursing home for older people has 42 frail residents, some of whom live in the specialist unit for people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
