The article features a new technique for treating a painful condition known as hammer toe which affects around three million people in this country.
The traditional technique for treating this condition can involve two nights in hospital, painful wires inserted into the foot and four weeks in plaster. The article compares this to David’s new keyhole technique where the operation takes 15 minutes, the wound only needs a light dressing and the foot can bear a patients weight straight away.
Care UK provides this service for NHS patients at the Sussex Orthopaedic Treatment Centre along with another equally revolutionary technique for treating bunions. The Centre is hosting an open day on 24th September where visitors can look round the operating theatres and meet the team.
