Thanks to the generosity of our residents and visitors, £420 has been donated to the Essex Dementia Care Society.
Silversprings held its first Fete in September and with a craft stall selling bags, mobile phone covers and jewellery all made by the residents alongside the traditional attractions of raffles, competitions, cakes, sweets and craft stalls, it was a resounding success.
Michael Chittenden the homes owner explained their choice of benefactor: “Some of our residents are dementia patients and we can see how important it is to support charities that provide appropriate care and information- hopefully the money raised will go someway towards helping.”
Tammy Madge of Silversprings CSL commented: “We are proud of the facilities we offer our residents diagnosed with dementia. For many families knowing that their loved ones are being looked after in the best possible way is very reassuring. The Essex Dementia Care Society reaches out to dementia sufferers whatever their circumstances and is a real support for many, and with over 570,000 people living with Dementia in the UK today their work is invaluable.”
Arthur Weavers, a volunteer trustee for Essex Dementia Care came to collect the donation cheque of £420 from wife and resident, Beryl.
