Santa Claus, sing-alongs and stalls at Church View

Home news

Father Christmas will be on hand to welcome visitors to Care UK’s Church View House, Seaham, on Saturday (December 17th) as the doors open for the home’s annual Christmas fete, which is open to all between 1-3pm.

As well as Santa and his little helpers, there will be lots of stalls, mince pies and entertainment at the Church Lane home.

Manager Samantha Rogan said: “Our residents love open days and they particularly like seeing the children with Santa. It brings back lots of memories, gets them chatting about Christmases past and reminds them of how they used to organise Christmas in their own home. They have a great time decorating the home and the tree, ready for our visitors.”

The residents have also been busy making items for sale on the craft stall. Samantha said: “We have some very talented residents. They have created all sorts of things that would make Christmas presents, from pretty trinkets boxes to wonderful bird tables.”

The run up to Christmas will be busy in the home. Samantha said: “This is very much a community home and it is a very active home. The Lions’ Club Choir are joining residents for a sing-a-long of their favourite Christmas songs and children from the Ribbon School in Murton will be coming along to give a special carol concert.”

On Tuesday 20th, the residents and their relatives have their Christmas party. Samantha said: “There will be lots of food and entertainment and it is always a very popular event. Some residents then go to relatives’ homes for Christmas, but for those who stay, there will be a traditional Christmas lunch here which is open to families

“Our chef always makes it a wonderful occasion and many of the staff who aren’t on duty come in to say Happy Christmas. It is always a great day and it feels as if you are with one big happy family.”
