Wishes come true on Dignity Action Day

Home news

Making special wishes come true is the theme for residents young and old on Dignity Action Day on Wednesday February 1st, when staff will do what they can to wave their magic wands and turn wishes into reality.

Manager Beverley Taylor said: “Dignity is about having real choices and receiving the type of care you want. We put our residents’ needs and wishes at the heart of everything we do, but we thought, to make Dignity Action Day special, we would ask people what wish would make their day extra special. The team are now running around trying to make sure everyone has what they have wished for.

“We have had requests for trips to favourite places or places that hold special meanings, requests for particular pieces of music to be played and lots of other exciting ideas and activities. I think everyone will have a wonderful day celebrating dignity.”

Residents will enjoy a special meal of their own choosing on the day - Beverley said: “Residents will be inviting their relatives or friends to join them and we will set the dining room out like a restaurant.  Life doesn’t stop when you move into a home. You still want to enjoy a nice meal with people you love and we make sure that happens regularly.”
