Milner House Care home says “Come in for a cuppa” to raise cash for Dementia UK

Residents at Care UK’s Milner House care home in Leatherhead are opening their doors to their local community to raise money for Dementia UK as part of Time for a Cuppa day, on Monday 27^th February.

Time for a Cuppa is about bringing people together across the country to hold an event at home, in the workplace or in the community to help raise much-needed funds to support the work of Dementia UK, a charity dedicated to improving life for people with dementia.

Milner House manager Tosh Latchman said: “There will be special cakes and buns to go with the teas and coffees which our kitchen team will be baking. We have invited friends, carers and relatives along with people and organisations from the local community and any members of the public who would like to come along.

We have publicised the event locally and we are hoping for a good turnout as we want to raise as much as possible for Dementia UK. Some of our residents have dementia so this is a cause close to our hearts.   The number of people with the condition is increasing but there is a lot that can be done and the money helps to provide everything from advice through to special equipment.

“We also provide support for carers, for example we have respite care facilities at Milner House which provide those looking after people with dementia with a well earned break whilst we can care for their loved ones in a stimulating environment.”

Tosh said the afternoon tea event is also intended to raise awareness of issues surrounding dementia.

The Time for a Cuppa event will be held in the reception area of the home between 2pm and 4pm on Monday February 27^th.
